What is PDFSolution?
PDFSolution is an online toolkit for the everyday jobs that PDF files create: putting several documents together, pulling a few pages out of a long one, making a scan small enough to email, converting between PDF and the formats colleagues actually use, and adding the text, signatures or protection a document needs before it goes out.
Most of those jobs do not need a desktop application. A modern browser can already read, rewrite and render PDF files, so the majority of the tools here run entirely on your own device — the page loads the code, your file is opened locally, and the result is handed straight back to you as a download. Nothing is queued on a server and nothing is stored.
A few tasks genuinely cannot work that way. Reproducing a Word, Excel or PowerPoint layout faithfully requires a full document engine, so those conversions are sent to Microsoft's conversion service, and the AI assistant and translation send extracted text to an AI provider. Rather than blur that distinction, each tool page states which of the two applies before you choose a file.

Frequently asked questions
- Is PDFSolution free to use?
- Yes. Every tool listed on the site can be used free of charge, with daily usage limits and advertising on the free plan. Paid plans remove the ads and raise those limits, but they do not unlock a separate set of tools.
- Do I need to install any software?
- No. PDFSolution runs in a normal web browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. There is also an optional Android app, which is a wrapper around the same website.
- Are my files uploaded to a server?
- For most tools, no. Merging, splitting, rotating, reordering, compressing, editing, watermarking, image conversion and text extraction all run inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly, so the file never leaves your device. Word, Excel and PowerPoint conversions and the AI features are the exception — those are described below.
- Which tools do send my file somewhere else?
- Word to PDF, Excel to PDF and PowerPoint to PDF send the document over an encrypted connection to Microsoft's conversion service, because rendering Office formats faithfully needs a full document engine. The AI assistant and PDF translation send extracted text to an AI provider. Each of those pages says so before you upload anything.
- How long are files kept?
- Browser-based tools keep nothing: the file exists in the page's memory while you work and disappears when you close the tab. For the Office conversions, the file is held only for the duration of the conversion and removed from temporary storage afterwards.
- Can I use PDFSolution on a phone or tablet?
- Yes. The interface is responsive and the tools work in mobile browsers. Very large documents can exhaust the memory available to a mobile browser, so for files of several hundred megabytes a desktop machine is more reliable.
- Can I merge more than two PDFs at once?
- Yes. The Merge PDF tool accepts multiple files, lets you drag them into the order you want, and produces a single document. Page-level ordering can then be adjusted with Reorder Pages.
- What kinds of conversion are supported?
- PDF to JPG, PNG, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and plain text, plus JPG and PNG to PDF and Office documents to PDF. Conversion from PDF into editable formats is a reconstruction, so complex layouts usually need some tidying afterwards.
- Is PDFSolution suitable for business documents?
- The browser-based tools are a reasonable fit for confidential material precisely because the document is never transmitted. For the server-assisted Office conversions and AI features, check your own organisation's policy first, since the file or its text does leave your device.
- Do I need an account?
- No account is required for the browser-based tools. Signing in is only needed for saved files, usage history and paid plans.
- Can I edit the text that is already inside a PDF?
- PDFSolution lets you add text, images, drawings, highlights and signatures on top of existing pages, and redact content. Rewriting the original text stream of an arbitrary PDF is not supported; for heavy rewriting, convert to Word, edit there, and convert back.
- What happens if a tool fails on my file?
- Damaged or unusually structured PDFs do exist. Try Repair PDF first, and if it still fails you are welcome to describe the problem through the contact page so it can be investigated.
